Lizzie FranklinLizzie Franklin is Director of the Continuous Health Institute, an organisation devoted to helping people discover new and useful physiological patterning, to support ongoing health improvements. This often involves re-aligning behaviours at the muscular and psychological level, removing compensation habits and helping the body discover a new balance. Her techniques integrate many and varied approaches from East and West alike.She draws on her many and varied qualifications in Dance, Sports Massage, Nutritional Therapy, Personal Training, Neuro-kinetic Therapy, Active Release Therapy and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga to produce these results. Lizzie completed her Permaculture Design Course with Aranya in August 2015, is a professionally trained performer, former national powerlifting champion and homemaker.
Dick ThompsonDick Thompson is a Cognitive Scientist. Since his Cognitive Science degree, Dick has travelled the world, continuing to explore the acquisition of human expertise and cognitive enhancement... Learning about: Curriculum-based schoolteaching and one-on-one tutoring, meditation, yoga & related eastern disciplines, business consulting, strategic and conference facilitation, neuro-linguistic programming, video gaming, athletic coaching of individuals and groups, permaculture, and most recently, carpentry.Dick believes that our challenge today is how quickly we can adapt, and that we can learn to accelerate that ability by applying the sciences of cognition. He seeks to help bodies to recover their naturally athletic capabilities, and minds to learn to apply ecological patterns at every level.
AranyaAranya has long been interested in how to care for his body. He enjoyed distance and cross-country running while at school, but in his mid-twenties was forced to give them up by repetitive injuries. Despite training in the interim for several charity runs, including 100 miles of the Pennine Way in 1993, these continued to limit his ability to enjoy running. Then in 2005 he was excited to discover several new running techniques (including 'barefoot') and this led him to learn more about natural movement and nutrition. The application of these ideas completely transformed his posture and allowed him to move naturally and freely again. He is keen to share what he has learned and has begun writing about the subject, including a chapter of his upcoming book. Meeting Lizzie and Dick has helped him reach a new level as they have been able to offer personalised feedback, something that he was unable to get from a book.Aranya is an experienced permaculture designer, teacher and author. Completing his Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design in 2003, Aranya started teaching the following year. He discovered this made his heart sing, so he made it his main focus. Since 2004 he has taught almost 80 two-week design courses, something he has no intention of stopping. He feels that it's a privilege to have the opportunity to teach "something that can make a real difference in all our lives".In the spring of 2012 Permanent Publications published his first book 'Permaculture Design - a Step-by-Step Guide', which evolved from a set of design course worksheets. He also writes occasionally for magazines and from time to time shares interesting items on his blog. Aranya is currently writing a second book, about a subject he’s especially fascinated by, to be called 'Patterns Matter - in Permaculture Design'.
